Travel & Lodging
The information below tries to cover the most important points. Further details and instructions will be added closer to the conference.
Traveling to Helsinki and Espoo
Helsinki Airport can be reached directly from many European airports as well as major Asian and American airports. Typical flight times vary from 3 hours (Central Europe) up to 10 hours (Far East, East of US). Helsinki can also be reached by express trains from St Petersburg and by boat from Stockholm and Tallinn, e.g., if you would like to visit other cities nearby.
There is a train connection from Helsinki Airport to Helsinki city center and the main railway station. The trip takes roughly half an hour and the single fare is 5.50 EUR. If you purchase a day ticket (valid from one day to seven days) at the airport this trip can already be covered. For tourists, day tickets are ideal for moving around.
Finally, to reach Hanasaari conference center from the main railway station, a variety of bus lines can be used from the Kamppi bus station. If you wish to minimize walking, there is a metro connection from the main railway station to Kamppi. Due to high number of bus connections, it is easiest to consult the regional journey planner. Beware that you want to reach the place called Hanasaari in the city of Espoo (the one in Helsinki will be the wrong one).
A block of single and double rooms at Hanasaari conference center have been allocated for the LPNMR 2017 participants. The rates are 94 EUR/night (single) and 114 EUR/night (double). We highly recommend this option as the venue has just been renovated and it lets you to participate in the conference very conveniently. The rooms can be reserved and paid directly with the Hanasaari conference center. To obtain the conference rate, please contact sales hanasaari.fi by email to make a reservation. Unfortunately, the online booking system of Hanasaari cannot be used for reservations.
Of course, there are also many hotels and hostels available in Espoo and Helsinki but remember that July is definitely a touristic season.
